Dr. William Junius is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement and revision of the hip, knee, and shoulder; robotic-assisted total knee replacement; and sports medicine care.

As an athlete himself, New Orleans native Dr. Junius understands the demands that injured athletes face, and he strives to get the athletes of Metairie, professional and recreational alike, back on the court or field as quickly and safely as possible.

Dr. Junius' passion for athletics began in high school, where he set state records in the javelin, earning him a scholarship to Tulane University, where he furthered his skills and eventually qualified for the Olympic Trials.

Due to an injury, Dr. Junius was unable to keep working toward athletics and instead focused on academics. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in cell and molecular biology and earned the Gerald M. Gussack, M.D., award as the first in his class to graduate. His injury and recovery inspired him to pursue further training in orthopedics, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

After completing his orthopedic residency at Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals in Fort Worth, Dr. Junius returned to his roots in New Orleans. He practiced at Audubon Orthopedics & Sports Medicine as a physician partner from 2006 to 2010, before establishing Crescent City Orthopedics in 2011.

Dr. Junius was a head team physician for Rummel High School from 2006 through 2014 and assisted them during their two Louisiana State Football Championship victories. Crescent City Orthopedics continues serving the athletes of Rummel High School through the expertise of Dr. Scott Buhler.

For the benefit of his community, Dr. Junius is dedicated to bringing his patients the most up-to-date techniques and practices, including the latest innovations and minimally invasive treatment options. He is a leading specialist in his area as one of the region’s most experienced surgeons in the minimally invasive Oxford® Partial Knee replacement system, a treatment option not commonly offered in the New Orleans area. Because of the required training and intricacy of the procedure, Dr. Junius is one of eight elite orthopedic surgeons across the country chosen by the manufacturer of the Oxford system to teach the procedure.

Dr. Junius enjoys fishing, hunting, and traveling in his free time. He, his wife, and their six children returned after Hurricane Katrina and are proud to now call New Orleans home.

Dr. Junius is available to see patients at our office in Metairie.
